a citizen of Mexico City

"Chilango" originally referred to the hot sauces of Central Valley Mexico, which Mexico City is located. In time, it was used to describe someone from the 21 other Mexican states who came to live in Mexico City. However, in current times, it refers to anyone from Mexico City. While it was considered offensive historical, it is now used with pride, and lead to residents of Mexico City referring to this city as "Chilangolandia".
